As the global energy industry gathered in Houston for CERAWeek by S&P Global, Louisiana’s Bayou Region took its place on the international stage.

Representing the region, COLAB joined state leaders and partners in advancing Governor Jeff Landry’s Whole-of-Louisiana Energy Strategy, a unified effort to strengthen Louisiana’s role as a national and global energy leader. With a focus on innovation, infrastructure, and workforce, the message was clear: the Bayou Region is essential to the future of energy.

COLAB president and CEO Christy Zeringue moderated a featured panel, The Bayou Region: America’s Offshore Energy Hub, bringing together industry leaders to highlight the region’s strategic advantages.

The discussion reinforced what sets the Bayou Region apart, such as the strategic location, generational expertise, and critical infrastructure that support offshore energy at scale.

“When it comes to the Bayou Region, it is strategically located on the Gulf of America with Port Fourchon and with the people who are ready to dive in and do the work to support Argent LNG’s project,” said Jonathan Bass, CEO of Argent LNG. “We believe in a community first, Louisiana first, and country first approach so that no screw comes from China and no molecule will be delivered to China, and we will hire the best engineers domestically.”

That foundation is backed by a workforce with deep-rooted experience in the industry. “The Bayou Region has the workforce and expertise in servicing the offshore industry in the Gulf of America, and they have been doing it for many generations,” said Tommy Faucheux, President of the Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil & Gas Association (LMOGA). “In fact, we export this expertise to other regions and other countries.”

At the center of it all, is Port Fourchon, a critical gateway to offshore operations, “Port Fourchon, in Lafourche Parish, is the America’s Gateway to the Gulf of America, servicing 99% of the offshore oil and gas industry,” said Chet Chaisson, Executive President of Port Fourchon and COLAB Board President. “We are the most efficient place to service the offshore industry than any other place in the world, ensuring we have reliable and resilient access to the Port 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.”
