Terrebonne Parish

The name terre bonne, Frenchfor the good earth, applies as well today as it did when Terrebonne Parish was founded in 1822. Founded by French settlers who traveled from the Mississippi River down Bayou Lafourche to Bayou Terrebonne, the area is defined by its fertile lands and the intersection of multiple navigable waterways, making it a natural draw for industrial growth.
