Bayou Region Workforce Study PDF
This report identifies critical occupations requiring two years or less training in regions most affected by Hurricane Katrina and Rita, and will be used as part of the funding criteria for critical occupations training programs. In addition to identifying the demand occupations, this report identifies the NAICS industries within each sector, the parishes within each geographical region and total historical and forecast employment and population by parish within each region.

Post Katrina Rebuilding - Critical Occupations for Recovery Period 2006 - 2009 PDF
The Purpose of this study is to examine the Bayou Region labor force, from the perspective of employers, in a detailed fashion. Of particular interest are specific characteristics of the area labor scene, including workforce quality and availability, projected growth by occupation, productivity and turnover, benefits offered, job preparation (including education and training), and challenges facing area employers. The study was commissioned by the South Central Industrial Association and the South Louisiana Economic Council.

Bureau of Labor Statistics - Effects of Hurricane Katrina on Employment and Underemployment - Monlthy Labor Review 2006 PDF
After BLS and its State partners made critical modifications to estimation procedures, local area data show that Hurricane Katrina depressed employment levels sharply in Louisiana and Mississippi; the initial effect on unemployment, though also strong, was temporary.
